Aurora’s Company performance report presents a summary of the operational and financial performance of all major participants in the GB wholesale power market. The key statistics include companies’ revenues and profits, outputs, capacities, capture prices and load factors. All the metrics are presented for the entire generating portfolios, their subsets for each technology, as well as for individual assets. The report also presents the evolution of companies’ market shares over time.
Highlights of the February report are:
- With Marchwood CCGT unexpectedly reduced to half load for half the month, SSE’s market share of output continued to decline to 8.5%, its lowest level since September, accompanied by a corresponding fall in market share of revenues.
- Coal plants profited from the increased power price and decline in coal price, with higher gross margins month-on-month.
- In a reversal of last month, RWE was the only company to reduce its coal utilisation, running Aberthaw B on only 8 days this February.
- Despite the power price being 11% higher than last February, there was a slight year-on-year decline in total monthly profits across all companies due to the high gas prices at the end of the month.
