GB FFR Market Summary – July 2018

Aurora’s Flexibility Market Summary provide a concise monthly review of recent events in key markets for flexible technologies. The initial focus is on the balancing mechanism and firm frequency response (FFR) markets with more ancillary services markets to be added over time.

Highlights of the July report include:

  • Only six dynamic bids were accepted this month, and the volume-weighted average price continued decreasing to £4.08/MW/h, the lowest since July last year.
  • LimeJump was successful with 4 battery bids in the dynamic market this July, and will provide a duration weighted volume of 25MW next month.
  • The total duration weighted dynamic volume procured for August is higher than July, but remains low for the last year at just over 400MW.
  • The volume-weighted average price of accepted static bids fell to £1.77/MW/h, with 7 bids accepted this month.
