Aurora’s Company performance report presents a summary of the operational and financial performance of all major participants in the GB wholesale power market. The key statistics include companies’ revenues and profits, outputs, capacities, capture prices and load factors. All the metrics are presented for the entire generating portfolios, their subsets for each technology, as well as for individual assets. The report also presents the evolution of companies’ market shares over time.
Highlights of the March report are:
- Total gross profits soared this March, as companies cashed in on the high power price caused by the cold weather and subsequent gas shortage at the start of the month.
- Higher utilisation of coal and biomass assets increased Drax’s market share of output to almost 10%, while its share of revenues soared to 9.6%, their highest in the last year.
- CCGT output fell by around 0.2 TWh, but saw an increase in gross margins relative to last month as the high power price outweighed the spike in gas price.
- EDF increased its coal and nuclear output by around 1 TWh since last month, reaching a 29% market share of output.
